Officials of Philippine Aquatics, Inc. (PAI) recently inspected and coordination meetings in Boracay Island as part of the preparations for the upcoming 4th Southeast Asia Open Water Swimming Championship slated August 21-23.

The inspection team was led by executive director Anthony Reyes,  Region 6 director Jojo Quilop and Karl Lachica, chief of hospital of Ciriaco S. Tirol Hospital.

As part of the visit, the delegation paid a courtesy call on Malay, Aklan Mayor Floribar Bautista to discuss the local government’s support and coordination for the successful staging of the regional competition.

The officials also inspected facilities at Boracay Newcoast where they met with hospitality partners, including Emelyn R. Morales, general manager of Savoy Hotel Boracay; Janica Ednalino; and Dian B. Ledesma of Belmont Hotel Boracay.

Discussions focused on accommodation arrangements, logistics, and support services for athletes, officials, and delegates who will participate in the championship.

The delegation also met with Serafin Javelona of Southwest Tours to coordinate transportation and tour logistics to ensure the smooth movement of participants throughout the event.

The preparations underscore the strong collaboration among PAI, the Local Government Unit of Malay, hospitality partners, and tourism stakeholders as they gear up to host one of the region’s premier open water swimming competitions in the world-class waters of Boracay.

Athletes from across Southeast Asia are expected to compete in the championship, further boosting Boracay’s reputation as a premier destination for international sporting events.
