JAKARTA - Indonesian Ita Yuliati, Local Organizing Committee Chairman of the 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championship, gave wholehearted endorsement to the 3rd Junior World Championships scheduled to take place in the Philippines in November.

"Having these two major international events in Southeast Asia one after will make gymnastics grow even more in our region," Yuliati, the Indonesia Gymnastics Federation President who is presiding  staging of the the world meet here, said.

The veteran Indonesian sports official said the  Philippines hosting of the third world juniors, set Nov. 20 to 24 at the Manila Marriott Hotel Grand Ballroom at the Newport World Resorts in Pasay City, was further recognition by the International Gymnastics Federation in the capability of Southeast Asians in handling major events of the sport.

She said having both events after the other in the region was providential following the historic golden pair of medals won by Filipino gymnastics sensation Carlos Edrie Yulo in the 2024 Paris Olympics Games "that was simply amazing."

"This is why I would also urge the participating countries in the world championships  to take part in the world juniors that will be held in Manila in November. I and the Indonesian national junior team will definitely be there," Yuliati said.

Also enthusiastic about the hosting of the  global junior gymnastics showcase in Manila supported by the Office of the President, the Philippine Sports Commission organized by the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines led by Cynthia Carrion was FIG secretary general Nicolas Baumpane.

"In about  a month, we  will be in Manila for the junior world championships. We look forward to be there and look forward to a brilliant show," Boumpane said.

"We would like to also underline the perfect cooperation that we have with the FIG GAP and the Local Organizing Committee. Thank you Cynthia. We will see you all in Manila soon," he added.

Also backed by Milo and the Pasay City government, the 3rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships has already topped the senior event here in terms of the number of participating countries and events.
